Hi,
After upgrading to IE7 (on XP SP2, domain member), our mapped network drives
that are connected to network servers containing dots such as QDN or
IP-addresses, always appear in the Internet Security zone within Windows
Explorer regardless whether the server is added to the Local Intranet or
Trusted sites security zone.
When the shares are accessed directly by UNC names with dots, security zones
are applied as appropriate.
Also with mapped drives to hostnames only (without dots) security zone
settings apply.
This is easy to generate by mapping your own computer's c$ drive using
either the FQDN (e.g. via net use * \\server.domain\share) or IP address and
another mapped drive by it's hostname. The mapped drive connected to the FQDN
always appears as in the Internet zone.
How can I change this behaviour (if even possible) so that security zone
settings are respected and so that our user's don't get annoyed by popups.

experiencing the same problem.

Hi,
There is a hotfix for this issue, described in kb929798
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929798) and it is fixed in Vista SP1 and XP
3 according to Microsoft).
